That is the USA not the USSR. USSR made for a better rhyme, but I want to be in a country with fair free elections and an independent civil service system that unholds the constitution. A country that has been famous for peaceful transfer of power from one Presidential election to the next.
I have been in Door County Wisconsin since the end of May. People are concerned about the upcoming elections. Not sure it will be fair or peaceful. Yet, yet the people are here, they are supportive of new candidates.
On the 4th of July I participated in the parade in Bailey’s Harbor. People clapped and cheered as our float went by. They were peaceful and supportive. Only about five people gave us thumbs down or negative comments.

Renee Paplham is running for our local state representative assembly against a long established candidate. She’s in it for the long run, if she doesn’t win this time, she’ll run again. She wants support for everyday people, women’s rights, social security, and public schools. Things we’ve become accustomed to in America and people don’t realize they may be lost in this election.

On the side of her float, Renee posted a picture of Rosie the Riveter. She wore a headscarf like Rosie, and energetically shook hands and introduced herself as the float passed by.
