When my mother talked about Australia when I was a child, her eyes would light up when she described the taste of the fresh fruit. My mouth watered as I dreamed of tastes beyond my experience.
The Lychee is such a fruit. It is a small little red fruit with a big punch. Bite into the end. A breeze of sweetness rushes to the taste buds. The white flesh oozes cool pleasure throughout the mouth. Aussies say, “Can’t eat too much, too sweet.”
Bite off the end of the skin, and peel it back, put the whole thing in your mouth and suck off the white flesh. Then spit out the seed.
