I know my last post on this blog was from the USA, but nine months of the year I’m in Melbourne, Australia.
To celebrate that fact we went on a trip north out of Melbourne across the Great Divide.
The great divide, in my mind it brings up pictures of the Rocky Mountains. I know intellectually that there aren’t really any mountains in Victoria. But as we drove over a hill I was shocked when I was told, “We just passed the Great Divide.“

We did find a hill that had granite rocks and the top, a lookout and a great view of the surrounding countryside.

At the top there a man was working in a lookout tower. My partner approached him and talked to him. I wanted to tell him that I too had working in a lookout tower. I wrote about it in my book. Getting Beyond… On my honeymoon my husband and I were lookouts outside of Yellowstone Park, many many years ago. I shared that with him. He said, “It’s nice to talk with a fellow lookout.”

Lichen on a rock on the way back down from our wonderful hike.
Fascinating account!
