Out of Texas

The heat was unbearable. My daughter told us to go through Arkansas. Traveling with a dog, we decided not to travel very far in one day. The first day we went to Texarkana. Texarkana was not pretty, but driving through Arkansas the second day was beautiful.

We stopped at a Motel 6 in Texarkana because it had free WiFi. That was about it. It did have a clean bed, but no coffee, or cups or anything. The air conditioning didn’t work. It was very warm.

It had a covered swimming pool that had seen better days
One resident had created a lovely garden behind the abandoned pool shed. He showed me his beautiful eggplants.
More eggplants on the way and beans were climbing the shed wall
Leaving Texarkana the next morning heading to Springfield MO, the Arkansas roads were wonderful.
We took a detour and went hiking break at Hot Springs National Park
We hiked up and up a winding trail to see this lovely view

We ended our second day of driving in Springfield MO. We were pleasantly surprised by a wonderful grocery store and a very comfortable Quality Inn.

The Price Cutter store was employee owned, well organized, clean and very well stocked with anything one might want. It was across the street from the Quality Inn motel. We had an excellent breakfast there the next morning
